Poll/Question about your DC?s clothes.

How much clothing does your DC have a typical season?

How much of it does s/he wear again the following year?

I think we have a clothing problem. I organized all our closets and drawers this weekend, putting away summer clothes, etc. Found out PAC has more than 100 articles of clothing, and that?s not even counting undershirts and pajamas, and the stuff I put away. The kid can literally wear a different outfit every day for the next several months. It?s insane, and particularly so because I hate to shop and DH and I put together probably don?t have that many. I think my mom and aunts need to stay away from the mall.

I?m wondering how much of those clothes I can salvage next year, or whether it?s a lost cause. Right now, he?s kinda tall and thin, and we roll up the sleeves of almost all his tops. His pants are sort of baggy too and we usually have to cuff them. WDYT?

  • 20 or 25 outfits, she'll rewear about 25% of it.

  • DD has an insane amount of clothes too.  I've been buying clearance a season ahead, and then I forget what I already bought.  She had shirts from the summer that she may have worn once.  I already bought her some clothes for next summer, and when she insisted on trying them on I found they weren't actually all that big on her.  So I don't think any of her summer shirts will work again next year.  Some shorts or pants may because I had the adjustable waistband in so much.

It sounds like you might be able to use more next year since you are having to roll sleeves and pants.  I'd probably stop cutting off the pants and just roll them instead.

  • Right now he has about 12 pairs of pants (10 were hand me downs from a neighbor kid). I usually have 5-6 pairs, tops.

He's got about 20ish tops. That's because I got several tshirts over the summer and bought them big for layering, plus I got some great deals at Children's Place, etc.

Add 4 pairs jammies, some onesies for layering, and 2-3 sweaters, and I think that's it.

He's not quite 2, 28 lbs, over 36 inches tall, and I sincerely doubt that any of this stuff would fit next year.

  • She has about 14 outfits (two weeks worth) at one time.  Considering her growth and the changing seasons, I don't see the need to spend so much  money.  I think she has plenty.
