How often do you give your LO tylenol or one of those meds??

I never gave this to my LO but the past few days she has been really upset due to 6 month shots and teething. So I gave her infant tylenol last night and the night before last. It really helped. But you can't give it every night can you?? Not that I would but I would like to know how often you give it to your LO.

  • I give tylenol to my LO when I feel like there's no other option. He's fed, he's clean, he's not wet, and I've done everything else, and he's still carrying on.  Usually he gets it about 5 hours after shots, and doesn't need it again.

I would give it to him for a couple days if it was needed for teething, but not more than that.  I would try hylands tabs or orajel first though I think.

  • Rarely.  Usually only when a fever is present. I hardly gave my DS any meds while he was teething.  He just didn't seem to need it.

If you think it helps, go for it.

Yes I'm a big fan of Hylands products.

  • I have only given it to him after his 4 and 6 month shots. His bottom two teeth broke through at 4 months and it didn't bother him as much as I was expecting it to. Now that his top teeth are coming in he seems to be having a bit of a harder time so I might consider giving it to him if he is having a particularly rough night.

  • I use it as a very last resort (I think maybe 3 times in almost 7 months), and we don't use Tylenol because it doesn't help him, we use Advil.  I don't like to take that stuff myself, so I would rather try ntural things first.

  • I'll give tylenol if I've tried everything else, or there's a fever present. I usually don't give it more than once/twice a day. If it helps, it helps. For teething we stick with hylands tablets, but if it's been a really bad day she gets some tylenol right before bed.

  • I've never given it to DD.  I won't use it unless I have to and luckily for us she hasn't gotten a fever yet and she's pretty good after her shots.

  • I definitely don't drug my son, but I have given it to him plenty of times. I give it an hour before he gets a shot, then I will give it to him every 4 hours for the rest of that day. We did not do that when he got his 3 mo shots, and we were up for forever while he cried so hard that he hyperventilated.

I have also given it to him 4-5 times for teething. The tablets don't do it for us, and if my child is in pain, I will do whatever I can to help him out. Granted, I try other things first, but the tylenol with some orajel really helps him!

    Same here.

After reading the PPs suggestions, I'm going out to buy some Hylands Teething tablets, though. At 7 months old, Lydia still has yet to sprout a tooth. I have a feeling that's why she's grumpy from time to time.
