Multiples

If you follow Babywise, please come in

I'm a little over halfway through the book and I'm wondering if I need to continue.  Seems to me there are two points to the book: 1) eat, play, nap interval every 3 hours and 2) structure/schedule during the day = STTN.  Is that it?  My babies are doing both of these things so I feel like there's no point in me finising the book.  Is there more to come?

  • I don't know what "structure/schedule during the day" means, but the Eat-wake-sleep cycle is important. The biggest things IMO are making sure your kids get a full feeding at each feeding, so they don't get in the habit of snacking, and thus need to feed at night. That will also develop into a natural routine (3 hours, 2.75, 3.5, etc. whatever you baby wants) And getting them to fall asleep on their own, w/o being fed to sleep.
  • we read it too and were all over it but then we found ouselves with lots of questions. As they get older they have more awake time ...  or what to do if baby wakes a lil earlier ... so I dunno we did not read it per page but skimmed it and went back and then returned it to the library

sorry that was not more helpful wish they did a babywise for multiples as it seems slightly diff

  • I never read it, but my friend told me the "eat awake sleep" thing and told me that was the gist. So I do that, and they have been STTN amazingly well since aprox 8 weeks. We follow the "awake, sleep" part loosely. After they eat I play with them for about an hour. If they are tired at that point, we nap. If they are still playful, we keep playing until they are tired. And we always eat every 3 hours, even if we have to wake them up to stay on schedule. It's really worked wonderfully for us.

  • sleep/eat/play... every 3 hours...

don't respond to every little noise - sometimes they'll fuss a bit at night, but it doesn't always mean they need to eat... give it a minute - and see if they soothe themselves back to sleep - often they will... only feed when it's really feeding that they need, so they don't get used to soothing with eating.

    put down sleepy but awake.

to me, that is the most important stuff. All 3 of my boys were STTN at 8 weeks with BW - LOVE it.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.
