What do you consider "broke"?

Barely having enough to pay bills and buy food for your family and deciding that you are not going to drive the 12 miles to the park bc you really need that gas to be able to get to/from work or hospital if there is an emergency...That is what broke is to me, and not having credit cards to rely on as backup is the real kicker..that literally puts you at last dollar with no other options.
