Might be a dumb question...

Do I have to notify my primary care physician that I am pregnant?

Im not due for a physical for another year and dont anticipate having to see my dr.  Should I place a call in anyways, so they can put it in my chart??

  • I don't see this being necessary - I think it would only be necessary if you went to see your Primary Physicain for something.

  • I can only see it being an issue if you have a medical condition that your OB doesn't know about, so you need to have records transferred from your GP. I didn't notify my GP, but when it came up with my OB that I have osteoporosis, they called my GPs office to get my records.

  • good question!  I contacted mine because i have hypothyroidism.  It was really important to get my thyroid checked every month and when the numbers weren't right, she referred me to an endocrinologist.  So, it can't HURT to just call the office and tell them.  And if you have any other issues they are monitoring, I would DEF. contact them!
