Muppets movie?

I tried to scroll back through the posts to see if this was already asked... Has anyone seen the Muppets movie?  Would you say it's appropriate for an almost 4 year old?  TIA!

Re: Muppets movie?

  • I have not seen it yet but my cousin took her 5 year old her 2 1/2 year old and her 8 year old nephew and they all loved it. I also have a coworker who took her 4 yr old and her 6 yr old. My DD had to get up and walk around during intermission at the Disney Live performance so we haven't tried a movie yet.

  • We took DS this past weekend. It was his first time at a movie theater.  He did great. He got antsy only about 15 min before the end, which i thought was good considering all of the previews and the Toy Story short before the movie even started. He, and we, liked it very much. It may have helped that DH and I are HUGE Muppet/Jim Henso fans, so DS has been exposed to the Muppets since birth.  He regularly watches DVDs of the Muppet Show and knows all the characters.

There were quite a few parents at our showing that left mid movie with their 3-4 year olds and it was definitely not a quiet theater....lots of parental "shush"-ing.  I think if the Muppets are a brand new thing, it might not hold a kid's interest.

  • We took DD to see it, and she liked it.  I am very picky about what she watches and thought it was fine - I don't really understand why it was rated PG.  DH and I enjoyed the movie more then she did thought.  She is really into Kermit, and you don't see him for the first 15 minutes of the movie.  She seemed kind of bored at the end, and she has been to the movies several times and not gotten bored (except at Cars which she asked to go home during!)

  • DD's first movie was Winnie the Pooh, which she LOVED and sat all the way through with no problems.  She is 3.5 years old.  We just took her to see the Muppets (I was excited!) and she did not love it at all.  She asked five minutes in "when can we go home?" and she asked that at least every 10 minutes for the whole movie.  (I had my older two there or I would've just left!)   We also had two potty breaks.  So as much as I love the Muppets....and as much as I wanted HER to love the Muppets....it just didn't hold her attention as well.  :(    Good luck!

  • Thanks for the feedback!  I was concerned about the PG rating, but it's good to know the content shouldn't be an issue.  I think we will give it a try on Sunday.
