I'm actually more of a lurker on this board, but I am/was a young mother.  I had my first at 16 and then another at 20.  Not married either time.

I've since married so I more of less stay over on the Blended Families board, but if you ever want to converse please say so! I still remember everything I went through as a young single mother and even now I sometimes still feel single when it comes to raising my kids at 24.

I'll make sure to lurk over here more often so I can respond to any posts from you that I can!  It's always nice to know someone that's been there or is there. Big Smile

  • Completely agree!!! I was 17 with my first and 21 with this one. and everyone has great advice but there are CERTAIN things young moms go through that older moms do not...just like the moms over 35 or whatever that board is.

  • I was 18 when I had my son, 33 when I had my daughter.  Believe me I remember what it was like being a young single mom.  It's not easy at any age but definitely had more challenges at 18.

Same thing. Even though I'm 34, I remember what it was like trying to be a mom, a student, while still being a kid myself, and yes...at 19, you're still a kid. Talking to those who WERE young mom's can give you insight into what's down the road.

Sometimes I think my daughter and I raised each other. We're so close.

  • thanks ladies ! im usually not on this board, im typically on 0-3months. I am 20 and kinda single ? my boyfriend is in jail;unfortunatly!  had been through this whold pregnancy and birth....It sucks !  thanks ladies again

As a newly single and soon to be mom I find your post uplifting :) I've been feeling down since I became pregnant. The dad had new girl# 2 & 3 ready & lined up even before I ended the relationship and he's moving on just fine. I unfortunately, will be unable to go about life like normal just like he is. I've given up dates and opportunities to meet anyone because of my situation.. and part of me wonders how dating will happen once I'm ready to get out there (certainly not until way after the baby is born). How did you do it? and specially with two? Congrats on your success story and for struggling through such a tough time!

  • Not the only one.. I was 19 when I had my baby girl, I am still married, but separated at the moment, but yes I agree that there should be a board for young mothers whether they are single or married.
