Hi everybody! Intro!

I have been a little bit of a board slut lately, just trying to find "my place".

My name is Gina and I am 31.   I just found out on Monday that I am having twins.  EEEEEEEEEEEEEK doesn't even describe it.  We suffered from some fertility issues and after an IUI, here is where we are.

My DH and I live in NY and both work in the Special Ed field.  We are huge animal lovers and have 2 dogs, 2 fishtanks and 2 indoor bunnies.  And soon, 2 kids!

I have a question for all of you-  Were your babies preemies?  If you want to share, have they had any developmental challenges?   With all this excitement comes lots of worries.

Re: Hi everybody! Intro!

  • Hi and welcome!  Congrats!

I had 36 weekers, so technically late term preemie.  No developmental delays.  But they did have breathing issues (we live in Denver and I had pre-e/GD) and a smidge of NICU time to get that under control.

You're right, finding out you're having twins comes with tons of worries, but take it day by day.  Appointment by appointment.  ENJOY it.  Its truly amazing to feel two little humans shimmying around in your body!  This board is FULL of info.  Ask away!

  • Congrats and welcome!  I have 28 week preemies.  They are only 4.5 months old so we don't know of any developmental challenges yet.  Both are right on track for their adjusted age so far.  ECI did an evaluation and they didn't have any concerns, but are going to follow them by mail and come re-evaluate them if we have any issues that come up later.  Their Dr. is very happy with how well they are doing and since they had a fairly uneventful NICU experience, we don't really expect to have major issues in the future.  Hoping that you never have to worry about preemie issues!
  • Hey I know you. :) Mine were 10 weeks early, but at almost a year old are doing fabulous. Congrats!!

  • Hi Josie Posy!

Thanks ladies.  I don;t know what I am even worried about.  I myself was a preemie but I am "fairly" normal-  lol.

  • Congrats and welcome!  My boys were preemies (born at 32 weeks 6 days) and they were late too do all of their big milestones (sitting up, crawling, walking, etc) but they always got to everything in their own time and were pretty on track based on their adjusted age.  They are happy, healthy and thriving now!

  • Welcome aboard! There are definitely so many worries with twins. It always changes based on what stage you are at. So try not to freak out too much. :)

My guys arrived via scheduled c section at 37w3d. (I had insulin dependent GD, was showing signs of Pre-E and baby B appeared to have some growth issues, which he didn't). They are doing great and have been very healthy!
