1st Trimester

Miscarriage Signs?

I just found out a week ago that I'm pregnant, and I am super excited. So far, I feel great. My boobs hurt and I get cramps here and there if I bend down or lay down wrong. I'm trying to keep as positive as possible, but in the back of my mind, I can't help but think about the worst. My best friend found out that she was pregnant only to miscarry early on, and I know two girls from work that did the same thing.

So what are signs that you are going to miscarry? I have my first appt in 10 days and I would like to know what they look for. Again, I feel great but I just want to be informed.

Re: Miscarriage Signs?

  • If you are not cramping or bleeding then do not worry.

    Sometimes there are no signs.

  • Don't worry about it.  Seriously, if its going to happen, there is nothing you can do about it this early on.  Enjoy for now just knowing you are pregnant!

  • I shared this in a recent post but check out this website, go to forms, then to OB Education Handout, on page 3 I believe there are reasons to call the doctor. If your not experiencing any of them I wouldn't worry. Also, sometimes there aren't any warning signs.

  • Unfortunately, there may not be warning signs.  In addition, you can have a missed m/c which is a miscarriage with no symptoms.  My last pregnancy, I had a BFP only to find out that I had a blighted ovum (empty sac), despite feeling pregnant and the HCG blood work confirming pregnancy.  The good news is that after you hear the heartbeat (hopefully at your first appt), the risk of miscarriage drops dramatically.  Try not to worry about miscarriage and enjoy every day you are pregnant.

My belighted ovum was the most pregnant I have ever felt... odd...

  • Also, some of the "signs" of a miscarriage, aren't.  I bled and cramped with DD.  She is fine.
  • My CP started with brown discharge that followed with evil cramping and then real bleeding. I think those are the most straight forward signs. Like other posters have mentioned, when you are later on in your pregnancy a lot of times you don't find out you mc'd until you see the ultrasound. The first trimester is a scary time but just try to think positively. The fact that you are already 8 weeks with no issues is a great sign :)
