Toddlers: 24 Months+

Stroller..

Just wondering, how much does your 2-2.5 year old LO go in the stroller now as opposed to walking holding your hand (when going out on longer trips to the mall for example?)

It's probably mostly because I'm pregnant right now (due next week!)  but DS is usually in the stroller if we go out. He runs away or struggles like crazy when it's time to get back in if I do let him walk, and is quite a handful if I don't have the stroller at all... so unless DH is with me, I tend to keep him in his stroller.  Just wondering because I do see a lot of 2(ish) year olds walking with their moms holding hands or staying close really well...but of course the moms aren't 9 months pregnant haha.  If we're just going up the street I try to leave the stroller at home.

Re: Stroller..

  • DD is always in her stroller (for the most part). She enjoys it, so I'll keep encouraging her to ride; it's easier on me! We have a Phil & Ted, so I plan to just snap on the extra seat when LO is here in a couple months and use the stroller with both of them (or wear baby and continue to let DD ride as much as possible).

  • DS is iffy on his stroller. He hates getting IN it, but once he's there he's happy enough. The struggle is if I let him out at a park or playground... he has a real fight about getting back in.

  • DS really likes being in the stroller and doesn't stay near me very well without it. The mall is the main place I use the stroller.
  • DD won't sit in the stroller unless she's tired or has a snack. Around the mall I try to let her walk independently, without holding a hand unless we need to pay for something or it's busy. She's figured out how to undo the buckle, so I really don't have much of a choice but to chase her sometimes. DS is still at the age where he sits in the stroller the whole time we're out, so usually I push him and Minnie mouse (in DD's seat) around -- DD likes to help me push the stroller, so that is usually a good way to keep her close. I definitely sympathize with being pregnant dealing with all that... Good luck!

  • I am wondering this same thing. DS hates being in the stroller unless he has a snack. If he's tired, he wants mama to carry him...this has been fun while pg! I got a double stroller but we haven't taken it out of the box yet and I am wondering if I really need it. I will say the only place we go where we might use a stroller is the zoo...but usually if DH goes too we just walk. I figure if I had him and DD by myself I would need a double but I have no idea if he would actually use it. He much prefers to walk/run and is pretty good about staying close enough. Double stroller was a gift, so we aren't out any money...but we could always return it and get something else.
