Maybe I'm just too used to the way things used to be.  I miss the way things used to be.  When I chatted often, chat stayed in chat, for the most part.  If you brought chat conversations, jokes, whatever to the board it didn't go over well.  

I don't care to know the meanings behind inside jokes or care to know about what is said in chat, but I just don't think it belongs on the board.  Again, that's just what I was used to.

  

Fair enough. In the relatively short time I've been here it definitely seems like the board shifts "personalities" when a few key people graduate. I can see how you would think chat doesn't belong on the board. It's one thing for idiot newbs to get some snark, but if 90% of the people on the board who post regularly are excluded, I guess it starts being a bit much. I haven't felt that is the case myself, but I don't have anything to compare it to, and can definitely see what you are saying.

It does seem clique-y because only people who were in chat when this was discussed have it.  What would you think if you start seeing a group of people with the exact same thing in their siggy (wiggle wiggle wiggle comes to mind) and have no clue what it's about or why it's there?  Clearly it's something only people in chat know about, right?  So it seems clique-y, yes.  Are my feelings hurt because I'm not a part of the chat clique?  No.  If I wanted to know what goes on in chat, I would go there.  There is a reason I don't chat anymore...it has just changed too much for me, personally.  

Now, please don't change your siggy on my (or anyone else's) account.  It's been explained that anyone who wants to use that ticker, can.  I don't think it's a big deal.  I just think of chat as a separate entity rather than an extension of the board and I would like for it to be treated as such.  That's my personal opinion, and people are going to post what they want.  I can't stop it, try as I might.   

I'd ask. Ya know, instead of going "I JUST DON'T GET IT" right in front of people with those images in their sigs. "Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle" is a "lyric" from a song by LMFAO called "Sexy And I Know It". Someone mentioned the song, and linked to the YouTube. It's not an inside joke, it's not designed or put there to annoy you or anyone else. I think the video is ridiculous and awesome, which is why it's in MY sig.

Huh.  And I thought you were pretty cool the one time I was in chat with you.  I hate it when I'm wrong about people. 

I wasn't even going to dignify your "simmer down" post with a response, but here goes. Anything I posted in here wasn't meant to tell anyone how to feel - and you came in with the whole "simmer down" attitude. If that's the way I came across, then I'm sorry if you took it that way. I wasn't lashing at you for posting this thread, I was remarking about Aly's "If you have to ask" comment, which she explained. Then I'm sorry, I took the whole "I ignore the wiggle wiggle" thing personally because hey -- it's in my sig. For the record I've never seen anyone respond to a thread with "wiggle wiggle wiggle" in several weeks, unless it's in a "YGPM" thread -- either way it hardly seems relevant to me. Sorry if my opinions don't jive with yours all the time. I'm still always happy to see you in chat. 

Mama replied to this thread with a "wiggle wiggle wiggle". It's one thing if it's in you sig, you like the song, it's funny whatever. It doesn't have to be board related at all. 

The tickers were weird so I asked, just as you stated you would do if you had a question. Had those two just answered the question instead of essentially saying its a chat thing I don't think anyone would be having this debate at all.

Maybe I have not been here long enough to understand the background to this, but chat is not closed to certain people, right? So everyone has the opportunity to be in chat...so it's not like "chatters" are a closed group.  I do not think this is cliquish (sp?), as everyone who wants to has the opportunity to be in chat. I don't find this to be an "inside joke" AT ALL.

I happened to be in chat last night, and the discussion about the ticker was funny. Yep...0% pregnant just about sums up my life. And if I had not been in chat last night, I still would have understood the ticker somewhat...all of the things on the ticker are things that have been discussed on this board extensively.  

Yep...things change. The board won't always be the way it was "before". That's life. And TTGP will always have a lot of turnover. And I think those comments about "the way things used to be" suck for those who are newer around here. That does just what you say the "cliquey" ticker does...tries to push out those who you feel "don't belong"

If it didn't happen on the board it is an inside joke between those who chatted. Again, as I said before, that is not a problem. Many people have off boards and friends they talk to. Everyone is welcome in chat but not everyone can. If someone, me in this case, sees something in multiple peoples sigs and has a question about it then they have every right to ask. A simple answer, as the creator d the ticker gave is fine, thank you for sharing. It becomes cliquey and exclusive when people refuse to explain and instead say something asinine about how it's a chat thing.
