I had a c-section scheduled for my twins at 36w6d. I had an amnio done the day before to make sure the lungs were developed. My MFM doctor did it in the ultrasound room since it is u/s guided. They called me at home with the results early that evening and I had the c-section the next morning.
The procedure itself is very easy and painless. It felt like having a blood test. I had expected a lot more discomfort and was happy with how easy it was. GL!
I had an amnio at exactly 38 weeks to make sure DD's lungs were okay to proceed with induction. Since I was already having complications I was admitted to the hospital, had the amnio done the same day (Saturday), got the results of Sunday in the morning, and started Cervadil within the next hour. I believe it normally takes 24 hours for results. GL!!
