So, when we brought DS home from the hospital, I didn't swaddle for two reasons: 1) he wriggled out of blankets, and the swaddlers were too big, and 2) he HATED being swaddled. He always has his hands by his face, and he hated having them strapped down. Fast forward almost 8 weeks. He sleeps in his RNP in our room at night, and naps in it during the day. About a week ago, he started STTN. I'm totally fine with him being in the RNP, but now that he's STTN, I figure we might as well start the transition to the crib. Well, as with a lot of you guys, he tends to startle himself awake when he's flat on his back (or even with the wedge thing in his crib). We don't have that problem in the RNP because it cradles him. So, the logical thing to do is swaddle him, but he hated it so much when he was younger. Well today I thought, what the heck, I'll give the swaddler another go. And what do you know? It worked! He fussed for a second at first, but then immediately started to fall asleep! I went and laid him in his crib, he woke up after a few minutes because he lost his binky, so I put it back in, and he's been asleep for about an hour now! Yay!! Weird how much they change! : )

Mine actually slept IN BED for over an hour this afternoon. I got two Christmas gifts made! WAHOO! Oh, and lunch and laundry and loaded the dishwasher.
This! I have been thinking of how to transition LO to his crib for naps (he naps in his swing and is in his RNP at night)....he HATES to lay flat and unswaddled so as he got fussy today I swaddled him (i never swaddle him for naps), put the sound machine on "heartbeat" (jonnygurl - thanks for the homedic recommendation) and put him in his crib. He cried for about a minute....but now he is asleep! *knock on wood* Small victories. Trial and error.
