Xmas cards?

I always order cards online; Walmart, vista print, shutterfly etc... I'm working on ours right now from Snapfish. They seem to have a lot more 5x7 cards then the standard 4x8 so I'm choosing one of those designs. This may be silly but since it's a bit bigger/different size- does it cost more to mail or is mail weight only?

There is a charge for larger squares or "odd" shaped envelopes...

According to the USPS website, a letter's acceptable dimension range from 3 1/2" x 5" (minimum) to 6 1/8" x 11 1/2" (maximum). Items that will qualify for an extra surchage:

Letters that meet one or more of the nonmachinable characteristics below are subject to the nonmachinable surcharge.

    • It is a square letter
    • It is too rigid ? does not bend easily
    • It has clasps, string, buttons, or similar closure devices
    • It has an address parallel to the shorter dimension of the letter
    • It contains items such as pens that cause the surface to be uneven
    • The length divided by height is less than 1.3 or more than 2.5

Looks like a 5x7 should be in the clear.

5x7 is standard postage because its the same size as a greeting card.
