So when she strains an tenses up she has a lump on one side of her tummy. The only thing Dr. Google says is that it's a hernia, which is common, no biggie, but does require surgery.
When I called her pedi this morning they wanted to see us ASAP, which of course makes me even more nervous. Anyone deal with this? I'm kind of freaking out over the idea that my tiny little girl may need surgery ![]()
UPDATE: So of course at the doctor the lump didn't show. It has come and gone before, I thought it was gone for good but it showed up again last night which is why I decided to finally call. Doctor agrees with Google that it's probably a hernia, but since it's reducible (you can push it back in) it's not an emergency.
It is down by her groin so it's not the umbilical kind that goes away on it's own. He told me to take a pic next time I see it and email it to him. So for now it's okay, hoping I never see it again! Thanks so much for the T&Ps!

It's probably just an umbilical hernia; most of the time they resolve on their own in a few years. My niece has one and never needed surgery- her doctor just kept an eye on it.

Doesn't it figure that the problem disappears when you go to the doctor??? I had that happen with D's cold back in his second week.
Glad she's alright and that it doesn't sound like its emergent.

So frustrating, my car does the same thing when I take it in for service. I am grateful for modern technology so I can email the pic instead of having to go back in. We have $40 copays and the doc is 30 minutes away so it's not fun to go see him for nothing.
