I don't know if you're still checking your prior thread, so I thought I'd reply to you here. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I hope you get great amino results and all this worry was for naught.
Our first baby had a mostly fatal disorder, acrania (no skull bones). There have been babies who have survived past birth, but they are rare. Most die shortly after birth, or pass away in the 3rd tri.
We opted to terminate the pregnancy. It is a very individual choice, and there's no general right or wrong decision that everyone should abide by. Dh and I had talked about it before, before the nt scan, when we thought the scan just tested for downs, and we wanted to terminate if there was any issue where the child couldn't live a mentally normally life. Needless to say, acrania definitely fit that profile. We're not religious, more pragmatic than anything, plus my eggs are crap and don't have much time left, so I couldn't blow another year on a child that had a high likihood of not making it.these are just a few of the reasons why we decided to terminate. It's hard to do- go to sleep pregnant and come to after surgery knowing that you're not pregnant. But, I also think it would be hard to carry to term and make burial preparations on the same day you buy maternity clothes.
No easy choice ![]()
