I went to my class today at the Y and ran into a mom I used to see all the time at the library (we both took our kids to the same classes). Anyways, I haven't seen her since right before Annabelle was diagnosed at 20 weeks and she asked me the inevitable... When did you have your baby? I told her briefly (because she had her 3 kids with her) that Annabelle passed away shortly after birth and she responded- "I'm sorry, I guess it happens." Now she is a sweet person, and I can only assume she didn't mean to say it like that, but ouch. That hit me like a ton of bricks. IT HAPPENS. Yeah, I guess it does, but that is not what I want to hear.

I will never understand why people say the most bizarre things about a loss. I almost wanna believe it's cuz they feel uncomfortable, so they say anything to end the conversation. It's really gross. Sorry you had to hear that. (((hugs)))

You know, even before my loss, that would not have been something I would have said. While yes it happens, obviously, that's not something that should ever be said.
Re: Ouch...
Wow that is just not a very nice thing to say. I am so sorry you had to hear that!

I don't care how "sweet of a person" you might be, that's just wrong. People should really filter what they say.
*hugs*
Ouch indeed!! I'm sorry she said that to you! I hope she realized later that it was an awful thing to say.
