Yet another surprise today. Letting her CIO for nap time and went in to check on her after five minutes or so and there she was standing at the corner of the crib, crying "mamamamama." I knew it was coming but....
So, nap time was futile because all she did was stand up and proceed to get stuck there. She's not sure about how to get down. We never put bumpers in so I don't have to worry about taking those out but now am super worried about her hitting her head when she inevitably falls. She already has a perma-bruise in the middle of her forehead from hitting her head on the side of the crib when's she fussing on her knees.
How long does this last? I kept going in there to lay her back down. Nighttime shouldn't be a problem (at least wasn't tonight) because she wears a sleep sack and that prevented her from standing. But nap time are already a battle. Any other advice?
Re: Standing in the crib
I agree with PP. DD eventually learned how to fall back on her bum and didn't get hurt. Just like she clunks her head when she is fussy, she might clunk her head while she goes down for a bit. I'd just let her learn this new milestone at her own pace and not teach her that it's "bad." She is curious and no better time then when you are trying to avoid sleeping!
