Parenting after a Loss

Adding my IL vent

When we stayed with our IL's, we brought our Keurig.  They wanted us to and we didn't want to mess with a big coffee maker when DH and I only usually make one cup of coffee morning.

While we were there, they raved about how much they loved it.  They went through a Costco sized box of K cups in less than a week (they were each making 5-6 cups a day).  Keep in mind that when Jason and I buy a box of K cups, it lasts us about 2 months.

Because they said they loved it so much my DH bought them one for Christmas. He found a good deal online but the kicker was that you couldn't return it.

Two weeks ago his mom says "Don't buy us a Keurig for Christmas.  Dad didn't like it".  Oh really?  He didn't?  Because he sure said he did especially since he went through so many darn K cups.

So now we are stuck with another Keurig with no one to give it to and we can't return it.

Grrrrrrr.

  • Frustrating for sure.  I like PP's idea of taking it to Walmart or Target.  It's worth a shot.

  • I work for a nonprofit and one of our board members donated a Keurig to one of our silent auctions that she received as a client gift and didn't want for whatever reason. If you can't return it, maybe you could see if a local charity could use it that way. Just ask for a receipt for your donation and you should be able to claim the cost/value of the item as part of your charitable donations for the year.

Love this idea!  I worked for a nonprofit and rustling up silent auction items is the pits.  Especially in this economy!
