HI ladies,
For those of ya that have had your progesterone monitored with your pregnancy, i'm curious on your thoughts here.
I'm currently 8 wks pregnant after suffering two m/c's (one at 9.5 wks and the other at 5.5). I've had no "known" issues with progesterone ... as i havent had it tested with either pregnancy. I've only been monitored with this one.
When i was 4wks pregnant i had two tests, two days apart.
Both results came back as 20. The test my RE was using only measured up to 20 at that time, so i was told it could be higher, so not to worry, 20 was good.
My third test at 6 wks was done with a "new" test that measured up to 40. My results came back at 39.
My 7 wk test as 33 and my 8 wk test is now 29.
Has any had this decrease in progesterone and have had no red flags waved?
My dr seems completely unconcerned. She tells me that if her office were using the old tests still i wouldnt even know i was decreasing, and i'd be "testing in the clear".
But now that i know my numbers, and see the decline... I'm a nervous wreck.
So i'm curious if anyone has had this happen to them? I asked to be put on supplements "just in case", but i was denied. ugh!
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
T&P's to all!

Re: Progesterone Question
I had my progesterone checked when I was around 4-5 weeks. It came back around 25 (I don't remember the exact number). My Dr. had me tested, again around 6-7 weeks and it had dropped to 17. I was very nervous since that was what my level was at with my last pregnancy that ended in a missed m/c. She said progesterone drops at times and put me on prometrium through my 12th week. I asked her why this happens and why it dropped so much when I was at such a great number. She said that the placenta usually takes over around 9, or so, weeks, but sometimes the ovaries stop produsing earlier which will cause your progesterone to drop. She said not to worry, so I am not. We have a healthy little baby in there now, so I am staying optimistic.
I hope this settles your nerves a bit! Thoughts are with you.
I have read that progesterone levels can rise and fall from hour to hour. It also can change from lab to lab (using the same sample). I wouldn't be worried if it's staying above 20. I think your numbers look great.
I would talk to your dr. again about being on supplements. My dr. denied them to me during my first pregnancy and I miscarried at 9 weeks. I had 2 1/2 weeks of spotting and asked him 2 different times, and he never did anything about it; was just like "no you don't need those". After, I was so mad that I wasn't more of an advocate for what I wanted.
This time (and with a different dr), I told her that I wanted to be on them for more of a peace of mind, and she had no problem doing it for me. She said she didn't feel like I needed to be on them, but that they couldn't hurt anything.
