Long Time, No Speak!

Hi Ladies!

I have missed you all! I'm trying to catch up on some recent posts since I have been MIA for the better part of two months. Let me know what I missed with each of you!

As for me...I am wondering if anyone has a good bolognese recipe that does NOT have cream? I could Google one but I figure I trust people I "know" moreso than random recipe reviews.

In baby news, the doctor wants me to start passively weaning Lincoln and I am not too keen on it. He hasn't napped in DAYS and I got a scolding for that, too, LOL! Time for me to start sleep training!

Miss you all!

Thanks. I guess for some reason I thought I wouldn't have anything interesting to contribute outside of pregnancy but maybe that is not true. We shall see, LOL! In any case, I LOVE reading what everybody else contributes so that was reason enough for  a return. What have I missed?

  • Check Jamie Oliver's Bolognese recipe (food network or google maybe?).  I don't have time to type it out now, but if you can't find it, let me and I will when DD naps :)

  • Welcome back!

As Cobra said, you haven't missed much, apart from Michaela's first tooth. Also, BetsyDavis got a BFP (!!!) and a bunch of babies are rolling over :)

  • This is an excellent bolognese recipe.  You can make it cheaper using just ground beef and bacon and it's still pretty good.  I prefer to use Chianti or Ner d' Avola as the wine, but you can use whatever you have.  It makes enough for quite a few meals for us as it's so rich.  It's actually better the second day.  We typically make a double batch and freeze most of it for future meals.  It also makes excellent sauce for lasagna for when you're eating milk again.

I'm not off dairy Ijust don't care for red cream sauces, should clarified, lol. Thank you-I can't wait to try it!

No fair!  Actually, I tried it back this weekend and we've had success so far, so I'm hoping it's here to stay.

FWIW, Saveur and Cook's Illustrated tend to have wonderful recipes that fit a variety of tastes.  We typically go to their websites first when we're looking for recipes.  DH also pays for online access to CI as they put all of their recipes on there and there's no magazine to try to dig up.  They have an "almost no knead bread" recipe that's fantastic and seriously low work.  It's a modification of the NY Times "no knead bread" recipe and is considerably better than the NY Times version.
