Anyone's LO have a virus that only a fever is the symptom? We are on day 3 of a fever 102/103, bringing him to the pedi later today, just wondering if this is a common virus. My d/c provider has me paranoid about lyme disease, because one of the other kid's mothers has found 2 ticks on him in the last month. My LO has had no rash or anything else, but man is he miserable when the fever heightens!
There are several viruses where the only symptom is a fever. Roseola being one of the most common. DD had it when she was just over a year, and we're pretty sure DS had it when he was 9 months. With DD her fever was 102-103 for 3-4 days and when the fever broke she developed the tell tale rash. The rash doesn't bother them and is usually gone within a few days.
I think it is always good to have the pediatrician check it out though if the fever lasts 3 days or more. Hope he feels better soon!
We're on the 3rd day of fever over 101 here, too. This morning I checked him and it was 103.4 - last night was over 102.
He was at the pedi Monday and no ear infection, red inflamed throat but not strep, and a runny nose. Doctor said it's just a virus and nothing we can do but wait it out. I'm going to call when the office opens today to ask how long I should let the fever go before I bring him back.
My DS had a fever like that for about 4 days. The dr. said that he had a virus, they did a strep test, but it was negative. Good luck! Hope he's better soon!
