Cloth Diapering

Rash along waistline

DS has been fighting a rash along his waistline. His ped wants us to use hydrocortisone cream for a few days to see if it improves.  I can't get his diapers to stay below the rash. Would you try to use a liner just inside the waist? Or use sposies? (Sposies have been making the rash worse.)  Thoughts? (PS, DS goes to DC so I'm somewhat limited in my options.)

Re: Rash along waistline

  • Do you know what is causing the rash?  My first thought was build-up along the seam/elastic is causing irritation.  (Although if sposies make it worse probably not.)

I would try laying a fleece liner around his waist and see if that helps reduce the rash.  Maybe give him some extra naked bum time at home?  We give our LO nearly naked bum time in a KL1 fitted that contains mess but sits super low rise because she has mostly outgrown it.  Maybe something like this would work at home?

  • I don't know what's causing the issue. He first got really rashy after we started using Bac Out. I stopped using it and 99% of the rash disappeared.  This spot is still there but it looked different from the rest of the rash so it may or may not have been related? I've stripped all my diapers and also tried using a different detergent. The rash remained. Sad

The Ped recommended naked bum time. The KL0s are a great idea! We have some of those but I really disliked them and packed them up. I'll dig them back out just for this b/c they do sit really low. They also might work great for DC, which I'm sure will be less than thrilled at letting him nap diaperless as the Ped wanted. Thanks for the suggestion!!
