Difference between a Jumper and a Exersaucer? Do you need both?

Hey, I'm a FTM and wondering, what's the difference between a Jumper (Jumperoo?) and a Exersaucer? I have an exersaucer that I haven't used yet since LO is only 11wks old, but I've seen the jumpers at BRU and BBB and was wondering if I should get one... Any benefits compared to the exersaucer? Can LO use it sooner? Thanks!

  • The jumperoo's main benefit it that it is basically a seat mounted on springs so they can jump and bounce which DS loves. The jumperoo has toys on it too but usually the toys are better on the exersaucers. Originally I would say I should've gotten an exersaucer since DS just liked to play with the toys and didn't bounce but eventually he learned to bounce and it is like the greatest thing ever to him so I am happy with the jumperoo. Since you aren't going to have them in any kind of stationery entertainer for that long per day I would say that getting both is overkill unless you have plenty of funds and plenty of space. Like any baby product you only use it for a few months. We are still under on height and weight but now that he is a crawling machine his interest in being trapped in the jumperoo is very limited, he'll do some quick excited bouncing, check out all the toys, then he is ready to get out and start exploring again.

  • Oops- I accidentally came on wrong board but I can give you my experience.  My son liked the exercauser better and we were able to use it sooner.  Ours had a lower setting than jumperoo so his feet touched the ground sooner.  He liked being able to turn around and play with all the toys.  While he liked the jumperoo, the exercauser was his preference.  But then, most of my friends LOs prefer the jumperoo.

  • We have a jumperoo. They are just meant to let the baby jump. There is toys and music. Everytime the baby jumps it plays the music. DS loved his. It was worth the money. An exersaucer just has toys on it and doesn't do too much. Babies can jump in it, but it is very a very loud bang sound. At least the one at my job is. DS didn't really care for it much. Some of the babies we put in it liked it. Not all though. I really find either as a must for me. Makes housework easier to do.
