I had to get a new thermometer a month or so back, and I just don't know how well this one works. It's a basal body one from Walgreens, like my last one, but gives me different temps every day.
For example, this morning, it first said 97.73, then 97.6, then 97.43. It takes it ap quickly, I just lie there and take it several times before I get up. I usually take the middle temp and chart with that. What would you do?
ETA if you want to look at my chart and tell me what you think, I'm all ears. I'm on day 7 of high fertility with the CBEFM. Maybe I'll peak tmr?
Re: Temping question
Always go with the first temperature. Even though you don't move much, just being awake will change your temp, so it's normal that you get different readings when you take it several times in the morning. If you got 3 or more consecutive hours of sleep before, the first temperature will be the most reliable.
I have the BBT from CVS and am happy with it, in case you do think about switching to something else. It cost about $10 and is purple.
I looked at your chart and your temps don't look like you o'd yet. Are you taking your temp orally and are a mouth breather by chance?
I probably do mouth breathe, since I wear a mouth guard for my teeth. I guess I need to look into another thermometer. I would have thought though, that your temp would go up if it was affected by being awake, not down. But I'll start taking the first one at it's word. I'm thinking I need to wait until the next cycle to get a new thermometer though, I don't know that it's good to change mid cycle. Or what do you think?
I don't think I've Oed yet either, based on temps and CBEFM. But it's so frustrating to have so many days in a row of high fertility, with no peak!
No, I would not switch mid cycle either, that will mess up your chart for sure. And I agree, I would have expected your temp to go up instead of down, too, that threw me off a bit. Have you thought about temping vaginally to get more accurate temps or did you get a clear shift with oral temps in the past?
I know how frustrating it is to think you should o any day now and it's just not happening. Hang in there!
