Pregnant after a Loss

mucus plug? TMI

So I just lost a huge glob of mucus and I am sure it was part of my mucus plug. It was yellowish with some tan color to it.

I know I am not full term yet, but I feel a little excitement.
SO, I looked in WTE and it said it is nothing to warrant a call to the OB about, BUT the section of the book was 9th month of pregnancy and I am 32w4d,

so should I call?

I am experiencing some cramping in my back, but when I talked to OB about them today he said it was most likely stretching. So I really don't want to call if I don't have anything to worry about.

LO is moving like crazy if that makes any difference.

  • I actually asked my OB about this JIC at the last appt (it hasn't happenend I was just trying to be prepared).  He said it was nothing to worry about and that it can pass through and your water not break or labor not start for weeks.

He also mentioned that usually you lose it in stages so some will come out a little at a time and though it looks like a ton all at once, but really there is alot more left.  But it never hurts to call if you are worried.

  • I know this sounds really bad, but I am not worried at all. More like excited. Unless I start hurting bad I am going to just call OB office in the morning. I looked out the window and there is ice sickles(very small one) on my house windows and my car windows are frosted.

So I really don't want to make a trip to town in the pouring down rain especially if I can wait till tomorrow.

  • I would err on the side of caution and call. Since you are a first timer, it is possible that those back pains could be what contractions feel like for you. Hopefully they can do a NST and see if you are having any contractions and also check your cervix.  Likely it is nothing but it is good to get it checked out just to be cautious.

  • I wanted to update. I went to bed last night and when I woke up this morning the cramping had stopped, but I am sore so I think I pulled a muscle or something.

I called and talked to the nurse at my OB office they said I should be fine, but (obviously) if I start leaking fluid or if the cramping last more than 2 hours come in.

I have had a few cramps since I have been awake, but nothing too bad or consistent.
