Let me preface by saying:
My supply has pretty much dried up. I was using Fenugreek, and the day before Thanksgiving, my supply yet again plummeted to NO milk in one breast, and about a tablespoon in the other. ![]()
Anyway-- my daughter LOVES to nurse! Especially Monday nights when I pick her up from daycare because she misses me all day. Well, tonight she was rooting and had her mouth open wide at my breasts. I figured "Why not?" and let her nurse for comfort. She was happy for about 2 minutes, and then got upset because there was no/little milk. ![]()
My supply has failed me which makes me feel like crap, and very sad for little Lydia. It just bothers me that I can't provide her with what she is wanting.
Sorry to whine...I am just upset that she is upset.
Re: I feel so bad! (BF related)
I'm so sorry to hear that. Sometimes my LO will get upset when hes still hungry but I Haven't got enough milk left (we have to supplement a little) and it makes me so sad. Just know you're giving her everything she needs no matter what.
Thank you, girls. You all are the best...I mean it. I can be having the worst day, and you can always make me feel better.
:::walks up and hugs everyone:::
Quentin never really liked nursing as much as she does, so this really hit me hard this time.
I understand. Mine dried up at 10 weeks. Watching friends nurse makes me long for it.
We did our best and they got breastmilk for many weeks.
So I make up for it with lots of hugs and kisses and play time.
Aww I'm sorry EE - The ladies are right, though. you DID do your best and you are a terrific mama.
If you really want to keep on BFing Lydia, I suggest you consider Domperidone. With DD1, I had a very low supply from Day 1 and Domperidone is what allowed me to BF her for as long as I did (15-16 months)
^ this exactly!! Stay strong she knows how much you love her and you are providing her with everything you can. On a positive spin you don't have to worry about weaning when she becomes a shark with those sharp little teeth

Thank you, ladies. You are all so understanding and kind. I appreciate you all more than you'll ever know.
And you're right-- Lydia will be just fine. It may take time to get her to want to stop nursing, but what matters is she is healthy and happy otherwise.
You are doing your best, and I feel your pain. I'm getting to that point myself. I have milk at night, but not during the day. DS actually refused to nurse last night for the first time. He wanted a bottle first. Once he was full, he nursed himself to sleep. If he hadn't done that, I would have broken down in sobs.
Hang in there. Your DD will be fine.
I am in the same boat. Just this Monday my supply completely tanked
I have had to supplement a bottle a day of formula since I have been back to work which when my Bean was six weeks. Now she is about 3 1/2 months and I can't even get a full bottles worth during my three pumping sessions at work (she was eating three 4 ounce bottles).
How do you know how much formula you should feed your baby? Do the same rules apply as breastmilk?
Im sorry Eesome!
