Cereal ?

I'm starting to research solid foods for DS. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to introduce them until he is 6 months or so but I wanted to start researching the different brands that are out there.  Does anyone have one they love?  Or that their doc has recommended?

so far, I think i would buy HappyBellies.

 Thanks!

Re: Cereal ?

  • I know a guy who used to work for Gerber.  He went through the whole process of how the food was cooked, cleaned, steamed, canned ect.  I haven't really looked into what brand I will be loyal to, if any, but I was really impressed with the fact that they used all top quality foods and the process in which they canned it.

I have made some and it's super easy that's why I might not be buying lots of food to start with. FYI

  • I will probably do Earth's Best, based on doing absolutely zero research :). I'm thinking about starting DD after her 4 month well check in a couple of weeks. MIL is about to have a stroke because I haven't started her yet!
  • I use Gerber rice cereal. She loves it!

  • No cereal for us.  It can be binding, it's got next to no nutritional value, so we'll start with pureed fruits and vegetables diluted in breastmilk.

same here and we'll wait until 6 months. Meals are so easy with ebf right now.

Agreed.  I'm trying to decide if we'll do this or BLW... I plan to visit with the pedi about, but I'm pretty sure he'll tell me it's up to me and I can't decide!

    What is BLW?

I've looked into BLW as well, but I guess I'm still confused how it all works. We are starting on fruits/veggies, though. I already have 6 gallon bags of pureed things in our freezer. Easy peasy to just pop one cube out and defrost for a meal.

Well...in my head it works out great. We'll see when the time comes. Right now Jackson isn't even coordinated enough to make a chewing motion or put his hands to his mouth with something in them. I'd like for him to eat for himself a bit without me just cramming a spoon in his mouth.

  • Lincoln had his four month appointment yesterday and the doctor asked why he wasn't eating cereal yet (which had been recommended to fight his reflux...long story...) Anyway, he told me he wanted hime ating three meals a day by six months. I believe "food is for fun before one" so I am struggling with it but some time this week I intend to buy cereal.
