Regression??

My guy used to "talk" alot. He'd say things that sounded like "oh," "hi," "hello," "wow." Since the middle of last week, though, he hasn't been talking any more. He hasn't babbled and I don't know if I should be worried about that. He still grunts and I talk to him in attempts to get him to "talk back" to me, but nothing. Do you think this is normal?

Re: Regression??

  • Don't know if it's normal, but we have the same situation here.  When he found his "voice" at just before 3 months, you couldn't get him to stop talking.  In the past couple of weeks, he's been much quieter and seeming to observe things a lot more.

I personally think it is part of his 4mw - it's like he suddenly realized that there's a lot going on, and he's very interested in observing it rather than yelling at it.  I do plan to ask the pedi at our well visit on Friday though.

  • My LO was a chatterbox when he first found his voice. There was a window where he didn't talk much but now he is talking again.  I wouldn't worry about it.

  • I would say not to worry too much about it. I mean sometimes there will be days LO is a chatter box and other days he is low key.

  • Thanks guys. He started babbling when I got home from work today, so that made me feel better.
