I think first of the actress Hedy Lamarr - a real badass lady IRL, then I think of Jennifer Jason Leigh's character in Single White Female.

I think it would be difficult for a girl to have the name Hedy in middle school and high school - whenever the boys in her grade discover the alternative meaning of the word "head"

I never got head jokes until I was much older like in college and that was only from close friends. No one was mean/bully about it.

I think Hadley or Hattie (NN for Harriet?) would be a better option. I'm just not a fan of Hedy, or as I keep seeing, Heady.

I actually knew someone by that name!  It was my friend's mom's name and she was a beautiful person inside and out so I like it!

My great grandfather's 2nd wife's name was Hedwig and everyone called her Hedy. So to me it's kind of old fashioned.

My husband's grandmother's name is Hettie-Lou so I can't get the old lady out of my mind when I think of Hedy.

It's been my nickname as long as I can remember. It's only a nn, but I choose to go by it all the time. My real name is Heather. I remember my grandma said I was jealous that the other kids got nicknames and I didn't have one, so after Hedy Lamar, I got called Hedy Hopper. I dropped the Hopper part though LOL.

I knew a Hedy in HS.  Her twin sister was Holly.  They had an older sister Ivy, and younger brother Lance.  I can't remember the other 2 sibling names.

I had a friend with this name growing up, so I have a good association with it. She never got made fun of for it either.

I'm Heather and I never heard Heddy as a NN! I like it personally. If I didn't have a NN that is completely unrelated to my name I'd try to adopt it! LOL
