Swaddle- rolling over?

DS is close to rolling over, i've found him up on his side a couple of times during the middle of the night.  I still swaddle him and he typically can get his hands out of the swaddle, but i'm still worried about him rolling over.  I've tried to put him to sleep without being swaddled, but he doesn't sleep long at all.  However, if he breaks his swaddle while he's already asleep for the night, he generally will still sleep for several hours after that. Any advice for me?  I was just reading the 3-6 month board and now i'm really worrying about SIDS :'/  Just want my baby to be safe, but want him to sleep good too.  How to i break this swaddle thing?

Re: Swaddle- rolling over?

  • I'm sorry I don't have any advice because we're in the same boat!! I am interested to see the answers, though.

The past few nights have been ROUGH without a swaddle. So we tried a Woombie. He can still roll. So we tried the Swaddle Strap with one arm out (as a last resort). He isn't rolling but still wakes up often. I hope our DSs get to sleeping soon :(

  • Our pedi said that as soon as they "start" to roll over to stop swaddling, and I'm kind of freaking out about it because she sleeps so well right now. The problem we have is she pulls her hair in the night and wakes up screaming with a fist full of hair I have to then try and ungrip her hands from. UGH! Maybe try swaddling with the arms out to see if the tightness around the tummy helps to trick him...I'm going to be right there with you in a week or so, so I'm going to see what other people suggest!
  • MrsSonny - I dont have any advice...I just wanted to say that I love love LOVE your siggy pic! Your DS is SO cute!!

    Though I hate his sweatshirt...haha O-H!! Wink

  • We just stopped swaddling DD one night. She didn't sleep that great for a few nights but now she realized sleeping on her stomach is better than being swaddled. It s trying the first few nights but eventually they don't care anymore! GL.
