I've seen Dropps recommended a few times for hard water. We have really hard water so I definitely want to get something that'll work well with it.
Is this the Dropps y'all use?
Would a routine of a cold rinse, hot wash with detergent and two cold rinses be good with Dropps? Anything else I should do to my wash routine?
ETA: Is the Amazon price a good one? Or is there some other place you've seen it for cheaper?
TIA!
Re: Dropps and hard water ?s
I use the baby dropps https://www.amazon.com/Dropps-Laundry-Scent-Enzyme-Free-20-load/dp/B001N447OM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322446443&sr=8-1
can't figure out how to do the hyperlink.
I use a front load washer, so one quick cycle on highest soil level, cold wash with no spin. This adds weight. Then i throw in the dropps, wash on hot/cold rinse with an extra rinse.
That is what I am using. I have only washed them for prep..no baby yet.
We have really hard water (even with using a water softener and adding bags of salt every week), I have been doing hot wash/cool rinse extra rinse cycle + one short cool cycle with no detergent.

Is there a difference between the baby and regular formula that makes it better for CDs? I ask because the baby formula is much more expensive.
I should've mentioned I have a super old top loader machine.
AHHHH!!! why didn't i think of amazon? i just ordered from the dropps site because my target has been out of stock for 3 weeks and i'm dying without them.
yes, that sounds like a good wash routine. i use the regular free and clear ones, not baby. i them.
I also have really hard water, and I haven't decided on a detergent or wash routine yet. Would the detergent in your routine be the Dropps, or are the Dropps along with something else to help with hard water?
Look! I put the diaper on the baby!
Dropps is a detergent, so I intended the Dropps to be the only thing I put in the wash. I have read that some people add something else in addition to detergent (Calgon maybe?) but I really have no idea how that works.
any of the formulas are CD safe, just some babies may have issues with the scented version. soap.com sells them too and you can often find coupon codes to use there and if you set it up as one of your favs you'll get an additional discount.
I do a prewash with 1 packet and then add a 2nd packet to my main wash with a double rinse. Here and there I'll add a capful of calgon to help get some of the mineral buildup out.
