Baby Names

Spelling of Zoey?

We are pretty much decided on the name Zoey/Zoe Marie.  Marie is also my middle name and our last name is common like Smith, Williams, Brown, etc.

  • Zoe please.

    Zoey looks goofy.

    Zoie looks weird.

This is what I thought too.  I like Zoe, DH likes Zoey (but I think it looks like Joey with a Z), and I only put Zoie on there because I found it online (I don't like it).

I know a girl named Zoe pronounced (Zo) and it drives her insane when people call her Zoey. She'll even tell you, if my mom wanted my name to be pronounced Zo-ee she would have put a y at the end.

     I say Zoey

  • If its a girl we are going with ZOEY elizabeth. Zoe is stupid looking. Like previous poster said it looks like Zo.

You wouldn't spell them Penelopey or Chloey.

I want to say Zoie (huh?) like ZOY (Scooby Doo zoinks!)

Sadly, I have seen both Khloey, and Khloie. Sigh....

    I voted for Zoe.

    Zoe

Zoe is the traditional or "correct" spelling.

Zoey is a modern variant. The y is completely unecessary.

It is not an English name, therefore does not follow English pronunciation. It is Greek. Just like Calliope, Daphne, Penelope, Chloe...

You wouldn't spell them Penelopey or Chloey.

Great! Now you put the idea out there it's just a matter of time before an army of them starts marching into daycare...Stick out tongue

I agree with this and with MJ's post.  Zoe is the traditional spelling and the Y is unnecessary.

    This, totally.

The other spellings, like all random y's, just look... dumb.
