High-Risk Pregnancy

Hbp and pre-e question

Hi ladies,

I have a quick question looking for some advice - I am being watched for pre-e by my dr because my bp has steadily been going up for the past 3 weeks. He diagnosed me with pih and said I'm most likely going to develop pre-e. however I have had no other symptoms and feel the best I have all pregnancy (31w5d) however the last couple weeks I have had a very intense pain in my upper right abdomen under my ribs - I assumed it was the baby hanging out up there but my husband says its one of the symptoms because the pain doesn't go away. I have a dr.s appt on Tuesday but yesterday the pain was pretty bad That my husband won't let me go to work today. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I call me dr? I'm just afraid I'm worrying for nothing. I have had no other symptoms

Thanks!,

Re: Hbp and pre-e question

  • I think you should call your doctor ASAP. Upper right quadrant pain can be a sign of HELLP.

  • Ditto the others - call ASAP. I had that, called L&D and they said come in immediately. Not to alarm you -but that's a sign of HELLP. I was delivering my daughter a few hours after that started because it was my liver swelling and shutting down. I had no other symptoms, either. I had hbp, but no other symptoms of pre-e yet. It developed very rapidly.

  • Thanks ladies - I did end up calling and they had me go to l&d. They took my bp and it was 148/87 and then took it 4 more times and it steadily dropped to 120/70 so that was encouraging, also all my blood work came back fine and I'm not spilling protein so it was a false alarm as of now. I am glad I called though because it could have been something. Thanks for the advice!
