Re: teething and cereal

  • 1. We haven't started cereal yet.  DS will be 4 months on Tuesday so at his appointment next week I'm going to talk about starting it in hopes that it will help his reflux.

    2. He is definitely teething! Or at least doing some pre teething since his gums are not white yet. I don't remember how early it started with my girls, but the boy is showing signs.  Sometimes he just sucks on his hands and other times it's like he's trying to get a bite out of them.  He also cries out sometimes when he is chewing on things.  I use Hylands teething tablets for pain relief and I've had really good results with him and with my girls.

    This.
  • See my post below titled "First taste of cereal!"

She had her first at 3 months, 3 weeks and 2 days old(close enough to the 4 month mark). I started my son at 4 months, and started her a week earlier because she has reflux and I heard it helps...it did! I have had absolutely NO spit ups since using it. She has had a serving every morning since Thanksgiving, and LOVES it. : )

Teething? No yet-- but close! Tons of drool and chewing on toys and her fists.

  • Cereal- I'm hoping to start after B's 4 month appt on Tues. Teething - tons of drooling and hand gnawing and possibly a top tooth? She has a break through white hard spot where her top right tooth would be, but I've never heard of a baby jetting those teeth first.

  • I think we're going to skip cereal and just start solids at 6 months...is anyone else doing this?

I was, but I want to do cereal now for the reflux. He also has a milk/soy protein intollerance so between the reflux and occassional accidental dairy in my diet I'm SO over being thrown up on.  Not just a little, but bathe and change for both LO and me. I rarely go anywhere without a burp cloth these days.

I do know of several ladies who plan to skip cereal and start solids at 6months.

  • 1)Going to ask the pedi about cereal at her 4 month appt in January.

    2) Definitely pre-teething over here. So much drool. Random fits of fussiness. And my Lord sometimes I think she's going to swallow her whole fist! I felt her gums this morning though and nothing has broken through yet.

  • 1. No cereal, we are waiting as close to 6mos as possible EBF

    2. I'm not sure about teething, I'm a FTM and have thought I had seen a couple of the signs on and off over the past couple of weeks but haven't seen any actual white bumps poking through.

Oh yes, I totally understand that!  I've been spit up on only once since LO was born, so I don't know how difficult that must be, can only imagine!  GL, I hope it improves things for you guys!! :)
