I picked "Daw-feen" and I really don't like it...it reminds me of the name of a medication. What about Delphine? It's an older name of french and Greek origin and I think it sounds prettier.
It's pronounced doe-feen. NMS but I don't dislike it. Fee (like short for Fiona) could be a nickname.
This. Personally I don't like it. It's just begging for her to have to correct the way her name is pronounced for the rest of her life (unless you move to a French speaking country/area). And as someone who has had to do that for her last name (both maiden and married) it gets old fast.
I think, " wow, someone trying to spell daphne in a younique way" love unique names, don't like this one.
My Signature won't work! I am a proud mommy of two (1&3) and starting an adventure to help a family having a baby through surrogacy.

Re: POLL: Unusual Name
When I first read Dauphine I thought of Daphne.
My guess would be Daw-fin
It is French for dolphin. And also a French noble title.
Proud mother of two breech babies:)
It's definitely NMS, but we do have a Rex, which is latin for King, so essentially it's a title, so I am not judging on that alone.
As a NN you could use Dawn I suppose. It doesn't lend itself to any specifically that I can see.
dislike.
i'd pronounce it "dow-feen"
This, with a speech impediment!
