Anyone on Armour Thyroid?

Just curious to know if anyone with hypothyroidism is on this medication. If so, how's your doctor managing your dosage and testing? My doc is being stubborn about raising my dosage even though I know the baby and I need it. VERY frustrating.

Re: Anyone on Armour Thyroid?

  • Get a new Doctor.  Seriously.  My last Dr. didn't want to raise my dosages because I was at a tsh 3.0, which she said was the normal range and thought it was too early to raise my dose, and I ended up losing that baby.  I entirely blame her. Before that she didn't want to raise or switch my meds even though I felt crappy.

You could try and talk to you OB or Endo and say you are worried about the baby's development etc...but I would really just do what ever you can to get the meds raised and a Dr that will listen to you stat.

Since my loss last year in April I switched to Armour and feel a lot better.  My pre-preg number was .75, and I am waiting for results from my test on Tuesday.  My OB/Gyn is monitoring my levels and will up my dose for me, and I am still in contact with my Endocrinologist.

Here is a link to a site with TSH levels for pregnancy....I had found many others that were medical journals, and they all say the same info, but the about.com site puts it plainly.

Good luck, and good for you for taking control of the situation!
