BC Pill Problems...what do you use?

So I was on the pill for years before we TTC and got pregnant really quick. I loved the pill because it helped my skin and I didn't get my period without it so I felt more "regular". I wanted to go back on the pill again but because of BF I had to have the mini pill and have had nothing but problems! My skin looked like a 16 year old, I gained 10 lbs in one month, and to top it off I had a weird reaction where my eyes swelled up and my skin turned scaley and dry. Has anyone else had weird reactions like this? I'm not sure what to do for BC because this was always my go to choice...what do you ladies use and do you recommend it?

I had been on BC pill for about 12 years with zero complications.  Once DS was born, I wanted to get back on the pill and chose the mini pill.  About a week into taking it, I developed itchy skin all over my body and a red rash everywhere. I had never had a reaction to the BC before, so it took me a bit to figure it out. I stopped taking the mini pill and it took a week for the rash and itching to fully go away.

I have since gotten the IUD without any issues

Sorry, no help w/ the pill.  But, I had the Mirena IUD put in 4 weeks ago w/ no issues so far. I had already met my deductible this year with DD"s birth.  So, it only cost me $25 (office visit co-pay) to have it put in and it's good for 5 years. Much cheaper than buying pills every month.

Just got my Mirena in last week.

I was on the pill, but it turns out bipolar medication and birth control pills don't mix well together. And while I love DS, I don't want another surprise baby

I have a Nuvaring and I love it. I didnt ask (nor did my doctor suggest an IUD, but i'll probably ask about it at my annual checkup in Feb). But I told her that I couldnt remember to take my pills (hence DD) so she suggested a nuvaring and it's surprisingly not as weird as I thought it was going to be lol.
