How to make this more for a boy nursery ?

image

I LOVE this. It's a tad girly... how can I make it more for a boy? I love the blue and the cream. I love the metalic in the room also. Do you think a chandelier is too girly? Obviously I wouldn't have bows on the bedding if it ends up being a boy!

TIA!!

  • I plan to have a chandelier in new baby's nursery and actually LOVE this...we are going for grey and blue tones (the grey may be a little more masculine than the cream) So NO I don't think a chandelier is girly at all...and I don't mind the bows on the bedding. I am saving this pic!  I love the bed skirts that are plush like that!

  • The chandelier is very girly (as are the bows).

  • I would remove some of the bows (personally I wouldn't have any but that's just me) and replace the others with darker ones.  I would probably change the artwork and add some darker shades (solid or pattern) make it not as girly.  I'm not sure if the jewels on the chandelier can be removed but if they can I would.

  • It's beautiful.  I'd remove the bumper completely (it's not necessary and the bows/frills make it extra girly).  I'd probably switch out the crib skirt for one that is more tailored.  You could probably also switch out the art to something else metallic, but a little more masculine.

this exactly. Also changing the colour of the drapes might help - what about a dark brown to match the furniture?

  • Chandelier is super girly IMO.

  • Get rid of the chandelier and bows and you could change up the drapes, they are nice drapes so maybe just adding a solid color trim in a darker color.  Maybe find more masculine art, for the walls.  Light colored children's photos in nice frames with still go with the traditional style of the room.  It reads very very very girly to me.

  • Id switch out the chandelier for a more masculine light fixture, maybe something dark brown and earthy to match the art style.

This, I also would go for a more tailored crib skirt.

If you left the room as is, I would think it was a room for a girl.

Agreed and I also feel that the bedskirt is making it a bit more girly. A straight skirt would make it more boyish. Honestly, the whole room just screams girl to me.

  • I'm not one for labeling boy vs girl decor, but to me that screams girly. The chandelier is very girly. You can even find a more masculine chandelier, but the crystal beading is way over the top. The bows are definitely girly, but I wouldn't have a bumper to begin with. I would have a straight tailored crib skirt, probably doing something like keeping the cream and adding a straight wide ribbon or fabric panel along the bottom in the blue color. . The mirror hung with a bow is definitely girly as well.
