I was going to deliver at Norman Health Plex, but decided to stick with a facility near home. I've heard many things about OU Medical Center and Mercy, as well as Integris Baptist and St. Anthony's. Can anyone tell me their experience with these facilities? I'm wanting freedom with moving around and a facility that works with hypnobirthing.
Re: Recommendations for OKC hospitals?
My daughter was born at Mercy Hospital. We used Dr. Wayman, out of Center for Womens Health. I LOVED every part of it, wouldn't change a thing.
I was a week late, induced with pitocin, and had my baby 7 hours later "naturally"...other than the pitocin. I was able to move around freely, wheeling my monitor around, and labored mostly in the bathroom. The nurses were great, 100% on my side for the "natural birth". I did not have a birth plan written. I knew i wanted no epi or pain meds, and made that clear to my nurses when i arrived. My doctor was, ofcourse, already aware of this, we had many discussions about this during my pregnancy.
I honestly can't say enough good things about my doctor and Mercy hospital....Good Luck mama!
Thanks! I've been hearing AMAZING things about Mercy and all of their doctors, so we'll be heading there! So excited!!
I had three at St. Anthony and really liked it there, they have a couple of the suites with queen size beds, and i was lucky enough to get one with my daughter. I had a friend who had a baby this year at Mercy, spent 4 days there and they never even put her in a real bed, she was in a birthing bed the whole time. I asked the nurse about it and they were too full, that alone is enough to make me steer clear, no beds, no me... I personally feel most places have great nurses and try to respect a woman's wishes on birthing. While the actual birth is very important don't over look how comfortable you will be during the rest of your stay.
Plus St.Anthony had great food, and loved their nurses and my Dr. was awesome, but i think he has retired now. I am going to check out the new Edmond one for this baby.
