I girl I know had a baby.  She called him RJ through out her pregnancy.  When she had the baby she continued to call him RJ.  Anyone with common sense thought she named him after his father, who's name is Robert .  But no, She named him RJ.  Just RJ, that's his name.  It isn't short for anything.

Thats pretty bad. A co-worker has a daughter named Jaycee.  Which is only slightly better, but a totally made up name.

I don't care for initial nicknames.  In the abstract, I associate them with runny nose trailer park kids from my childhood.  Now, when I meet an individual kid who's an RJ, TJ, JD, whatever, I don't gag.  I just don't prefer the style.  I also know a girl Jadee. 

 Jadee may just be the misspelling of a real and traditional Thai name Jaidee.

DH goes by JJ because growing up there were always multiple Jordan's in his classrooms/teams so he wanted to be different. It works for him. but I wouldn't want a child to have an intial nn and have two in the house. now way.

What qualifies it as totally made up? I immediately thought of Jaycee Dugard...

 

My name is K.C. and it is my initials. I did ask my mom one time why they didn't name me Casey since it's all I was ever called growing up. She said they hadn't intended for the nickname to stick.

I have a friend who named her son JayDe. I would much prefer seeing JD, even if it didn't "mean" anything.
