I know a lainey. To me it still seems a really young name to me but maybe that is just since she is like 8 years younger than me and I've known her since I was in high school.
I agree with the PP, it is a very cute age but it doesn't age very well. I have a friend name Lainie and her name is starting to not fit as well now that we are getting older. I also agree with the PP that it sounds more like a nn for Delaney, which I think ages better. Have you consider using that name instead?
I LOVE Delaney, but my last name starts with a D and as I saw a few posts ago, the initials DD opens the door for possible teasing. DH is also not a huge fan of Delaney. We're considering Elaina, but I feel like I would call her Lainey most of the time. Sticking to the trend of the board and not naming her one name while calling her another, I was just wondering if Lainey was too 'young'. Thanks for the opinions!
Laney is on my short list for girls... I like it a lot, it's more common out in ther wester part of the US... Just starting to make its way east... I like both spellings and I believe it ages well.
My cousin (boy) is Layne but we called him Laney until he was in his preteen years since it ended up being too baby-ish of a name. Probably a little different since he was a boy but it still sounds too cutesy for an adult female too.

Agreed. I like it more as a nn for Delaney.
I agree. I would go with Elaine and NN Lainey.
I really like it...but much more as a nn than a full name.
I like Delaney and Delaina...both which could be Laney/Lainey as a nn.
I do think it sounds a bit young...which is probably why I like it as a nn the most.

I have a cousin Laine and we call her Lainey sometimes.
I would go with Elaina (love it) and nn Lainey when it's appropriate. Elaina is a very mature name that would age well.

Me too. I love the name Elaine.
I always have a hard time when people ask if a name ages well, because I think all names do.. it just ages as you do, when it's yours.
I like it- spelled Lainey.
