GTKY - Thanksgiving Style!

So I am sitting at my desk, staring at my phone and rocking out to Christmas music! Hopefully we can close at five today instead of six, will keep my fingers crossed. So here is a GTKY:

What are you planning to do for Thanksgiving?

- We are going to my in-laws for lunch and then my mom's and step-dad's for dinner. We did take Friday off, so I am very, very excited about that. Love and I are just going to hang together and Sunday we are going to the Christmas Tree farm to chop down our own tree! It will be a wonderful Holiday!!!

What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory?

- When my brother was about two, we always called him turkey, all year we called him turkey. He was sitting at the table, in his high chair and my mom, grandma and I where talking about stuffing the turkey and puttting the turkey in the oven. Amir (my brother) started crying soo hard and he was so afraid that we where going to cook and eat him. :P  Sick I know that this is my favorite memory, but it was so cute.

Re: GTKY - Thanksgiving Style!

  • We're going to my brother's for Thanksgiving. He's only about 3 miles away so it'll be a relaxing day. My SIL and I split up the cooking so its not too bad for either of us.

My favorite Thanksgiving Memory is of my Uncle. We hold a huge card tournament on Thanksgiving. My Uncle had to work the next day so he was going to leave by 8 for the 4 hour drive home. But then he was winning so he couldn't leave yet so he pushed it to 10. Then he couldn't leave cause he was losing so he decided he'd leave at midnight. At midnight he decided that if he left at 2 he could still get home in time for work. I think he ended up leaving around 3 am. I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to join in Thanksgiving cards :)

  • Believe it or not, Thanksgiving is not a huge holiday in either of our families, so we just covet the calm and quiet time away from work.  We usually keep it low-key.  This year, We are cooking for another couple whose family is also on the East Coast.  So, I will run a Turkey Trot in the morning (as long as it is not raining) and host a small intimate dinner in the late afternoon.  Then we will watch the Harbough brothers fight it out on the gridiron.  Go Birds!

I can not recall any Thanksgiving specific memories.... Hopefully we will be able. To begin making our own family thanksgiving memories in the years to come.

  • What are we doing?

Going to my parents' house.  It will be a smaller group this year. Some of my cousins can't come and both of my sisters will be out of town. :(

     Favorite memory?

Last year was pretty memorable when my cousin Alicia set the turkey/oven on fire.  She spilled grease and it was pretty bad.  She even singed her hair!  She made me run outside because I had Zoe.  We can laugh about it now, but it was pretty scary then!

the past few years we've been going to my inlaws and my parents come, too. it's always a smaller crowd.

     memory..

unfortunately, the holidays were tough for my dh and me the past few years, but this year we have one additional precious baby attending the festivities and my family is certainly excited about that.

have a wonderful holiday....to all the wonderful ladies!...

After 7 years of marriage and 5 unsuccessful IVFs, we have been granted the gift of adopting a baby boy, born 4/21/11.

  • We are going to my mom's (who lives across the street) to eat lunch.  We eat at about 12:00, then visit, and watch some football.  My brother and SIL come + her parents and brother.  It's a lot of fun.

My favorite Thanksgiving memory is our first Thanksgiving as a family of 3.  It was so fun to have a baby (Ben was only 5 months old) at Thanksgiving and to think of all we had to be thankful for.

  • What are you planning to do for Thanksgiving?

My younger brother has been in the hospital for the past three months, so we are doing Thanksgiving in "shifts" at my house.  I am making most of the food  (other than a ham & the dressing) & I'm already whipped after two days of shopping, cleaning & cooking!  We'll probably have a total of about twelve people on & off.  I plan to finish cooking in the morning and hit the wine from there.  :)

What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory?

My favorite Thanksgiving memories are those with my grandmother, who passed away 2 1/2 years ago.  She LOVED all of the cooking and entertaining and food and wine.  Mary could cook like nobody else I know.  My mouth is watering just thinking of her food!  We've always spent Thanksgiving with as many family members and friends that can join us, and all of my memories are precious because of that.

I am hoping this is our last Thanksgiving without a baby in our home, and I am feeling so blessed and thankful that the gift of adoption will change all of our future holidays!

After 5.5 years of loss, heartbreak, and empty arms, our dreams were fulfilled through the beautiful, selfless gift of adoption. We are amazingly blessed!

  • What are we doing?

I cook Thanksgiving dinner every year.  My parents and sister come down from up north and my In-Laws and BIL come over as well.  This way DH and I don't have to travel.  We're very excited to celebrate E's first Thanksgiving, and we have LOTS to be thankful for this year!

    Favorite Memory?

Growing up I used to always see my cousins for dessert- as we got into our teen's the dessert hour grew later and later, and now we meet for pie around 10pm, and then dispense for Black Friday shopping.  I love it!

  • We are going to my mom's for lunch to celebrate with my step-dad's family, then we will go to a friend's house this evening.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so I have a lot of memories.  This year, I'm feeling very nostalgic about my grandpa who passed away two months before DD was born.  He was quite the character and I miss him greatly.
