What's the deal with squeaker shoes? do they actually squeak when the kiddo walks? and why would you want them to do that? it seems like it would be annoying.
The squeaker is in the heel of the shoe. Kids love them. It helped my DS walk (late walker) because he was so preoccupied with making them squeak that I think he forgot to be afraid to let go.
You can take the valve out so they don't squeak if you don't like it or don't want them to squeak all the time (put it back in). They are also good for tippy toe walkers because in order for it to squeak they have to strike with the heel first. This is the proper way to walk, heel then roll to toe.
The kind I got him was a really nice quality leather shoe. I bought them on mamabargains and for the lower price they were pretty nice even if they didn't squeak.
Thank you for asking this question. I was at the doctor about 3 weeks ago and a mom had a little girl there with these, the little girl was about 1.5 years old and running all over the place. I was SOOOO annoyed by the squeaking, it drove me nuts the whole time I was there. I am sure Mom thought it was cute but I don't think anyone else did.
It was a long road for our family...our 3 angels in heaven are always watching over us!!!
My sister and brother-in-law got them for nephew because he walked on his tip toes. This way, he wouldn't hear the squeek unless he put his entire foot down.
I put the hand-me-downs on DD this week. She didn't really notice. She knew there was a sound but didn't know where it was coming from..

This happened to me too. DD was like a week old so I was new to everything parent/baby related including squeaky shoes. I was thinking WTF lady! Some people are oblivious.
I hate those things! Thank God DD is not a tip toe walker so I don't ever have to listen to that awful squeaking all day long! I went to a birthday party where a couple of the kids were wearing them and I almost lost my mind!
