So when LO nurses on my right side, she seems to be drowning in milk. She ends up spilling milk out of her mouth all down my back/side and getting it all over her face and neck. She also releases her latch and gasps for air. Is this overactive letdown? It seems worse at night before she goes to sleep, like as she is falling asleep she can't keep up with the flow.
If it is overactive letdown, any suggestions? I also think this is weird because the right side is my "sad boob" when I pump . . .
Re: Is this overactive letdown?
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that. I can't tell if it is my letdown because I never feel it like so many others talk about or if she is just getting sleepy so she isn't swallowing as effectively as she drifts to sleep. But it never happens on the left side, even if I switch sides shortly after it happens.
These days, when LO twice unlatches gasping or coughing, I'll express a bit into a rag (yes, sometimes it's just squirts out by itself). Prior to 1 mo, it had been so bad I also did gravity-challenging positions.
