Doc google freaked me out - inversion table.

After talking about it for about a yr my hub finally decided to get an inversion table for his once again aching back (thanks to the dry wall he finally hung in the baby's room).

Any who he has noticed a HUGE improvement in his back pain from yesterday to today and I thought "man my back has been really hurting me" so I decided to test it out. I only did it for like one maybe two mins bc the baby sat right up on my lungs and I couldnt breath very well and I didnt even go all the way inverted maybe about 60% inverted. BUT even with that it did relieve some of my back pain.

Well after I decided to test it out I thought I wonder if my doc would "prescribe" an inversion table and think its a great idea to use daily to help with my back aches... then I decided to google using inversion tables while pregnant... bad idea! Nothing I found said it was good or safe for pregnant woment to use and said that it could actually cause pre-e (bc it raises your blood pressure) and that it takes away blood from your baby and all this other bad stuff. Now I'm kinda freaked out a little bit. The baby is moving and grooving so I dont think I did anything horrible to hurt the baby but I tell you what I wont be doing again. And now I kinda feel like a bad mom already for not thinking and checking it out prior to testing it out...

  • I wouldn't worry about it, they had talked about using that position with me when I was in the hospital. The can put your hospital bed at a backwards angle like that to try and keep the baby from putting pressure on your cervix. The doctors haven't seen it make much of a difference in outcomes for people like me so they decided not to but I've heard of a lot of other women that had to do it while they were pregnant. I don't think they would prescribe it if it causes pre-e so try not to worry :)
