First Name/Last Name with same letter?

So we LOVE Gabriel for a boy, but our last name is G_____.  I feel like that's still okay, but it does sound a little weird also.

Thoughts?

  • IMO, it's not a big deal most of the time. Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, Jesse James... all these names work. I think G__ G__ is probably fine.

  • I've been avoiding C names bc my last name starts with a C, but I realized this is silly. Alot of times it can work. My best friend has MM initials and I love it.

  • I don't mind it, just as long as it is not the entire family.  For example, I have friends who the dad, mom, baby and last name all start with a J.  It's just too much!

  • We loved the idea of having the same first letter for the first and last name, We think the sounds work well together our daughter's name it will be Annabell Lee Abb___ so we have allot of repeated sounds besides the first and last names both starting with A.

  • My first and last names both start with K. Same letter first and last names are a nonissue.
  • I think it's fine. It's really not a big deal unless the two names as a whole sound really weird together.

  • I love this name. This is not an unusual name.
  • My dad and FIL both have alliterative first and last names.  For some reason I didn't even realize this for years.  I think it's fine.

  • I think it's completely fine! I wouldn't do it with my last name because I have a very short last name beginning with W, so I think it would be a bit much, but generally I really don't even notice when someone's name is alliterative.

  • It's not a big deal. My first and last name initials were the same until I got married. I actually kind of liked that when I was a kid.
