Tablets vs laptops vs smartphones

Ok so I have an android smartphone that I love.  I have a laptop.  Do I need a tablet too or is it a total waste of money for me?  I'm looking at them and I'd love one but I'm really wondering if it's worth it.

Re: Tablets vs laptops vs smartphones

  • I have a laptop and an iPhone. I also have an iPad. I use my iPad almost exclusively at home. I never get out my laptop for home use unless I need to do photo management or photo editing. I use my iPad for reading (I retired my kindle) and web surfing. It's so much more portable than a laptop. I read in bed, search Pinterest from the bathroom, use the iPad for recipes in the kitchen, etc. I LOVE my iPad and think its totally worth the money. I have the 3G model but almost never activate the data plan since I use my iPad mostly at home or use hotel or airport wifi when traveling.

  • I have an iPhone and we each have laptops (H has 2, one for work).  We still had a "family" iPad, but we gave it to my dad, and really, it was nice to have.  I think each have its uses.

I'd like one again, just for myself.  No sharing with the kids.  But, then again, my laptop is 4 years old, so the battery life isn't that great, so I have to leave it plugged in a lot.  So maybe, if it had a better battery life, I wouldn't feel such a need for a tablet.  But, it's much nicer to use an iPad while waiting in line or something, or waiting during ballet/piano lessons, than trying to view pages on a tiny iPhone (and the iPad had much better battery life too).

  • My husband and I both have iphones and laptops.  We got an Ipad when they originally came out 1 1/2 years ago.  It's definitely a family one and we love it.  My kids love it.  I love it for quick surfing and recipes in the kitchen.  Powering up the cumbersome laptop is way too difficult once you have an iPad.  Ours is used multiple times a day by multiple people.

  • I have all 3 and I *never* use the iPad.  My son uses it for eBooks more than anything.  I have my laptop up and running at all times- so whenever I need to do anything it's just easier on my laptop.  I just find it awkward to use and I'm more comfortable on my laptop (keyboard).
