Just started 1st Clomid/Ovidrel/IUI cycle. Tips? Experiences?

Hello! I'm new to thebump (and blogging for that matter). Looking forward to talking to people that I can actually relate to with all this stuff. Most of my friends got pregnant as soon as their husbands looked at them, so this is all new to me. TTC since 8/2009. HSG all clear. DH low volume but excellent count and motility. Just started my first Clomid cycle. We're doing 50mg of Clomid, days 3 through 7, then Ovidrel on day 12 and hopefully IUI on day 14. I'm just looking for some tips, suggestions, experiences that anyone could share?

Me:28 DH:32. Married Sept 2008. TTC since Sept 2009. Bloodwork & HSG April 2011: all clear. DX Sept 2011: unexplained infertility (DH w/ retrograde). 11/30/11: u/s 2 follicles at 23mm and 25mm; ovidrel trigger. 12/2/11: IUI #1. 12/15/11: BFN. 12/26/11: u/s 3 follicles at 28mm, 29mm, and 31mm; ovidrel trigger. 12/27/11: IUI #2. 1/5: BFP (result of trigger shot?) 1/6: BFN 1/7 thru 1/9: BFP!! 1/10: confirmed pregnant! 1st beta 205; progesterone 41. 1/13: 2nd beta...     First off, welcome to the board!  But I want to warn you that the ovidrel will be based on your follicle egg growth...and so you may not trigger on cd12.  That's "perfect" world.  And for me, I did cycle on cd12 for my first IUI (IUI on cd14)and cd11 on the second (IUI cd13)...but not everyone has quick growing follies so know that it might not be the case.  Don't be disappointed if it takes a few more days.  

    My next bit of advice/experience if this is your first time on clomid and you are new to this board...lurk a lot and learn from others.  But my experience with clomid...I got at least two, another time three follies from it.  And my biggest follie was 25mm!  So be prepared for a little pain from how large they can grow!  Also be prepared if you tell anyone for them to tell them about twins & trips their friends had off clomid.  Yes, it's common but it's not the situation with everyone. 

    And finally, if you read below you'll see a bunch of us talking about how the IUI went.  It's very quick, quiet painless, and gives hope.  So for you, I hope you are "One and done" but if not, welcome and I hope to get to know you as you spend more time posting!

    Saw heartbeat twice before missed M/C at 8w3d on 12/27/13, missing my little angel boy

    I agree with Katib. Many of us on the board have done IUIs, so there is a lot of knowledge here. Lurk away and good luck!

    DH put on anastrozole to increase counts
    June/July 2011 100 mg Clomid + TS IUI#1 & IUI 2 - BFN :-(
    Forced break due to DH getting spinal surgery in August 2011
    IVF - January 2012: BFN
    FET in April 2012 - BFP at 6dp5dt! Beta #1 at 9dp5dt: 82.5, Beta #2 at 12dp5dt: 352 Beta #3 at 19dp5dt: 6000, saw heartbeat and one little bean at 5W6D!
    After nearly 3 years of waiting our LO was born December 18th 2012!

    Good Luck! I'm on the same type plan...clomid 50mg/ovidrel IUI. We have #2 tomorrow.

    My advice...the ovidrel injection wasn't as scary as I thought it would be and the IUI isn't as bad as an HSG! I was a wreck with our first IUI just based on not knowing what to expect!
