My friend's DD is named Flannery. It really fits her with reddish hair. What do you think of the name? She has gotten a lot of grief over it.

I want to love Flannery, but feel the same way, I know people will try to shorten this and to what? Flan? ick.. Would never give someone flack for this name tho (or any name to someones face but you know what I mean)

When you said red head, for some reason it fit. But the name itself doesn't sound very pretty, imo.

It originated as a last name and it shows. I can respect this name, but I really don't like it. I would never dream of saying that to someone who had chosen the name, though.

It's solidly in the last-name category, don't like it as a first name, especially on a girl. ESPECIALLY when it's likely to be shortened to Flan. Like the dessert.

I call her Flan or Flantastic... hehe

It isn't my favorite name, but I love the little girl and her name fits her.

It wouldn't use it for my kids, but I like it a lot. Both for the Flannery O'Connor reference and Flann O'Brien (Irish satirist from the same time as O'Connor)
